Inergy/U.S. Salt – Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler

TCSI was selected by U.S. Salt to be the Control System Engineer for this project to relocate a Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler (BFB) from Frasier Paper in Ohio to Watkins Glen, NY. The previous Bailey distributed control system (DCS) was not going to be used at the new plant location. TCSI designed, built, and programmed an Allen Bradley-based programmable logic controller (PLC), using ControlLogix Function Block programming. We provided construction drawings and supervision for the installation, as well as field device calibration and loop checks. TCSI provided GE Proficy (iFIX) human-machine interface (HMI) consoles for the Allen Bradley (AB) ControlLogix PLC platform. We developed all of the control logic utilizing function block programming. We also developed all of the HMI graphics. Throughout the project, numerous design changes required TCSI to design, build, and commission several remote I/O panels, such as burner management, woodyard, and ash PLC systems. For this continuing project, TCSI is providing start-up and commissioning services, along with system changes and enhancements.
